About Me

Welcome to the White Coat Wife!  My name is Genell and I am married to a 4th year osteopathic medical student.  We have been married for one year and dated for four years before that.  In those few short years we have:
     * Moved 2,500 miles away from home,
     * Each completed another degree,
     * Got engaged,
     * She started medical school,
     * I got promoted,
     * Got married,
     * Moved 3 times

Medical school life can be a challenge but it is also full of opportunity.  My goal is to educate and encourage medical school significant others through each step of their medical school journey.  I am by no means an expert and we are far from perfect but I am a firm believer of learning from others and I would love to share our experiences with you.

Outside of being married to a medical student (which sometimes feels like a full time job), I work in Admissions and Student Services at a local university.  I am also on the board of the Advocates for the American Osteopathic Association which is a wonderful organization I would encourage any loved one of a DO or DO student to get involved with.

A More Few Things About Me:
* I am normally reading 2 or 3 books at a time

I love coffee - I am from Washington so coffee pretty much runs through our veins
* I like baking and even won a national baking contest a few years ago
* I am incredibly shy (until you get to know me!)
* I have the cutest yellow lab (who at 9 years old still thinks she's a puppy!)
* I am still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up
* One day I will be organized - I really do try!
* We love traveling and try to visit a new place every chance we get

I would love to hear from you!
